The North Carolina Quality Center was created by the North Carolina Hospital Association to ensure patient safety and patient satisfaction in North Carolina’s hospitals. As Able&Co. began to dig into the mission and vision of the center, we discovered two stories that clearly emerged. The first was of empowerment – that the center existed to not act as a policing body for hospitals, but to show them through education how to improve patient safety. The second was excellence – the quest to eliminate all incidences of patient harm in all forms. These ideals drove the tagline “Empowering Excellence in Healthcare” and the look and feel of the identity. The logo, based on the shape of the state of North Carolina, shortens the name even further to NCQC with a check signifying the excellence it seeks. The check has a sweeping forward motion that adds movement and energy. This revised branding was applied across communication materials and a new website.
